In the promotional video for the TLC series, Von D showed the new tattoo under her left arm, showing James in a fifth-grade portrait and after seeing his reaction said, "I thought you were going to tell me you were breaking up with me. Just kidding!" The couple called off their engagement on Monday, citing long distance as an issue.

"Dear GoodDayLA, thanks for the waste of a perfectly good morning," Von D tweeted on Wednesday, shortly after walking off the show. "Lack of compassion n respect for each other never fails to disappoint me."
Von D clarified later on Twitter that she "politely left" after the morning talk show attached a "disrespectful intro" to the "LA Ink" promo. The reality star responded directly to "Good Day LA" co-host Jillian Barberie on the social networking site, after Barberie wrote, "Damn Kat Von D just walked out of studio before our interview cuz we showed clip with her and Jesse from her show LA Ink."
Von D, a 29-year-old tattoo artist and "LA Ink" reality star, confirmed the split on her Twitter account Monday night, saying, "I am no longer w Jesse, and out of respect for him, his family and myself, that's all the info I'd like to share. Thanks for respecting that."
